Join us to learn the art of Pine Needle Basketry and make your own basket to take home!
\nDecatur County Conservation Naturalist, Kayla Clausen, has been making Pine Needle baskets for around six years, and loves to share this art with others. By signing up for this event, you are committing to a one-day class. This art form takes patience and time but becomes very relaxing and enjoyable once you get the hang of it. It will take between 4-6 hours to complete a basket. We will learn about the history of Pine Needle Basket making, what supplies you can use, how to start a basket, how to work up the edges, and finally how to finish a basket. Every participant will go home with their own small, simple, completed basket.
\nAll supplies are included ($20 supply fee). All basket centers will be as pictured, just in different color variations. You will get to choose your center and thread color on a first-come, first-served basis.
\nYou will be paying Kayla directly, so please bring your $20 cash payment to the class. You will also be paying a $5 fee when registering to hold your spot in the class (total of $25 for the class). Maximum 6 participants. Ages 14+. Registration closes Thursday, November 5th at Noon.
