DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=BASE64:Celebrate the total solar eclipse with us! A solar eclipse
\nis a line-up of the Sun, the Moon, and the Earth during a New Moon phase. The
\nMoon will cast a shadow on our planet when it is directly between the Sun and
\nEarth. Due to our location in southeast Iowa, we will only see a partial
\neclipse. It will peak around 1:08 p.m.
\n 
\nThis is a rare and spectacular celestial event. It is the
\nfirst total solar eclipse visible from the continental United States in nearly
\nfour decades. The last one was on  February 26, 1979. However, August 21,
\n2017, will mark the first time in ninety-nine years that such an event can be
\nseen coast to coast.
\n 
\nThe Henry County Conservation Department will have
\nactivities and solar glasses for use ​at the event. You may preregister at mycountyparks.com or by calling the
\nconservation department at 319-986-5067. This is a free,
\ncome-and-go-as-you-please celebration for all ages. Meet at the disc golf shelter off Oakland Mills Road.
