County
Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center
The Woodbury County Conservation Board’s education
program offers year round family programs, special events,
adult education, and summer youth camps. Visitors can tour
the Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center for a self-guided look at the
Loess Hills landform and interpretive exhibits, or they can call
to schedule a naturalist-guided program. Located in Stone
Park, the nature center provides unique learning opportunities
within a few minutes of downtown Sioux City. The nature
center is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to
5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. It is closed on
Mondays and major holidays. Visit
for a calendar of program events.
Natural Resource Management
Nearly 5,000 acres are managed for public hunting and
recreation. These wildlife areas are generally undeveloped,
natural areas that are fenced, signed, and include a parking lot
access. Wild turkey, white-tailed deer, ring-necked pheasant,
fox squirrel, and bobwhite quail are popularly sought-after
game species.

Bridge Trail.
