Panoramic Display
Located in the lobby of the Buena Vista County Courthouse in
Storm Lake, is a 40’ panoramic display featuring wildlife native
to Buena Vista County. The two 20’ sections have a detailed
hand-painted mural backing the display completed by artist Steve
Brauhn of Sioux Rapids. The mural depicts the fall season of
prairie, wetlands and forested upland.
The taxidermy work was completed by Lance Christensen of
Spencer and Todd Felton of Storm Lake. Wildlife featured in the
display include badger, fox, pheasant, hawk, river otter, raccoon,
waterfowl, song birds, mink, muskrat, bald eagle, deer, squirrel,
chipmunk and wild turkey.
The Buena Vista County Conservation Board believes the display
is a great asset for the courthouse, community, and county. It
works as a superb teaching tool, showing numerous aspects of the
outdoors and provides a close-up view of area wildlife.
