Description
Under supervision to perform a variety
of routine and skilled duties involved in general park operations and
maintenance; including park patrol and security work and provide assistance
with environmental education programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The
following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as
exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Participate in park maintenance work such as construction and repair of
buildings, tables, fireplaces, tools and equipment, and the maintenance of
developed grounds, boat ramps, roads, trails, signs, boundary fences, shelters,
restrooms and water and electrical systems.
Conduct
preventative maintenance and routine repairs to vehicles, equipment,
playgrounds and the facilities.
Conduct
landscaping maintenance activities to include: trimming, pruning, and planting
trees, seeding grass and mowing.
Patrol and
enforce laws and regulations pertaining to the Conservation Board rules and
regulations; issue summons to persons abusing facilities or conservation laws
and regulations.
Clean and
maintain park areas and facilities.
Perform timber
stand improvement including removing dead or diseased trees from park areas or
trails.
Patrol areas and
collect fees from the public for use of park facilities; maintain records and
deposits money.
Make
presentations to public groups and organizations as required.
Assist with
Environmental Education programs and displays, both for school age children and
general public.
Establish and
maintain effective working relationships with County officials, employees and
the general public, and maintain regular and punctual work attendance.
Perform related
duties as required. Must
be a Cedar County resident
Qualifications
Bachelors' degree required or Associates' degree from a two year college and minimum of 3 years experience in park operations. Law enforcement certification preferred or must acquire within one year of employment. Must be a Cedar County resident.
