Park Technician/Ranger – Jefferson County Conservation Board.

This job is a permanent full time position under the supervision of the Conservation Director. The Park Technician/Ranger performs a wide variety of professional, technical, and field duties on Jefferson County Conservation Board managed parks, trails, and natural resource areas. Position requires a non-standard work week including nights, holidays, and weekends.
Job duties include but are not limited to park and campground maintenance and upkeep, equipment maintenance, construction or repair of facilities, trail maintenance, and habitat management. This person may also perform law enforcement duties in these areas.
This position includes standard county benefits. Starting salary range of $40,000-55,000/yr. depending on qualifications.
Necessary Skills/Abilities…
This employee must represent the Conservation Board in a professional, responsible, and trustworthy manner. Communicate effectively, both verbally and written, to individuals and groups. Operate office equipment including computers. Work and solve problems with minimal supervision. Work outdoors in all types of weather. Stand, sit, climb, balance, squat, kneel, bend, twist, crawl, and reach. Have sufficient dexterity and mobility to complete work as assigned. Perform manual labor for extended periods including lifting and carrying weight over 50lbs.
Education, Qualifications, And Special Requirements…
Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have no major criminal convictions, be insurable under the county’s insurance policy and must be able to get to and from work. A current valid driver’s license is required.
A natural resource related degree or knowledge of trees, shrubs, flowers, fish, reptiles, birds and other wildlife common to Iowa is preferred but not required to apply.
Preferred candidate will have current Law Enforcement Certification or desire and ability to complete training at the ILEA.

Qualifications
Natural Resources or related degree preferred but not required. Must be at least 18 years old with valid drivers license and no major criminal convictions. Law Enforcement Certification or desire and ability to obtain.
