Description
The position offers opportunities to assist in implementing Hardin County's roadside program. Emphasis on native vegetation management, reconstruction, and restoration in roadsides. Assigned tasks will utilize the latest trends in natural resources and vegetation management.
Applicants with a desire to understand and recognize Iowa's native flora and fauna are preferred.
Dates
The position starts on August 12, 2019, and will end approximately December 31, 2019 (terms may be extended). Accommodations may be made for school schedules.
Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to: planting native vegetation, conducting prescribed burns, controlling brush, mowing, and applying herbicide. Other tasks include maintaining tools, equipment, and facilities; and documenting, mapping, and assessing projects.
Hours
Hours will average 40 hours per week. The standard work week is Monday-Friday. Work hours may vary depending on weather conditions; some evening or early mornings may be necessary.

Qualifications
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have a current, valid driver's license. Must have the ability to obtain the Iowa core and category 6 pesticide applicator certification within the first two weeks of employment.
