Conservation Grounds Maintenance

The Grounds Maintenance positions will, under general supervision of the Executive Director, assist in the maintenance and development of all parks, preserves and management areas under the jurisdiction of the Dubuque County Conservation Board.  This is a temporary part-time position, with varied hours up to a maximum of 24 hours per week for up to three months.

Duties and Responsibilities: Performs routine maintenance of  facilities, grounds and equipment; primarily  mowing,  refuse and debris removal. Assists in the construction, installation, removal and repair of facilities.  Operates various power and hand tools, vehicles, tractors and mowing equipment.   Performs routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment and vehicles.  Reports problems with facilities, grounds or equipment  to Director, Deputy or Park Rangers. Performs other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications: Must be 18 years old. Valid driver's license, CDL preferred.  Working knowledge of tools, equipment and methods used in the park and recreation setting. . Ability to withstand manual labor under a variety of weather conditions. Ability to follow oral and written instructions, and work with limited supervision.  Willingness to work a non-standard workweek; including weekends and holidays.    Ability to pass a criminal history background  check. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds; ability to climb steps, squat, stoop, to be on feet for a minimum of one hour, sit in same position for extended period of time, reach above head, and able to withstand extremes of temperature, all with or without reasonable accommodation.
