Park Intern

DESCRIPTION: Position will offer opportunities in maintenance of county areas and facilities, including mowing, trimming, painting, etc.; vehicle and grounds maintenance; and assisting in campground host duties and naturalist programming. Intern will receive valuable practical experience and training during employment. Position begins May and ends August with 40 hours/week (non-routine week including some weekends, evenings, and holidays). Exact start and end dates are flexible.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must be enrolled in or have a degree in one of the following fields: ecology, environmental studies, recreation, park management, biology, forestry, or other natural sciences. Must be 18 years old, have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., possess a valid Iowa driver’s license, and maintain an acceptable driving record. Certification in First Aid and CPR desired but not required. Applicant will undergo a background check in reference to their driving record.

SALARY: $10.00-$11.00/hr., depending on qualifications. No benefits.
