Naturalist Internship through AmeriCorps - Decatur County, Iowa  

This position will be supervised by the Naturalist for the Decatur County Conservation Board.  

Description:  This 300 Hour AmeriCorps member will serve approximately mid-May through August 31, 2020. 20-25 hours per week. No benefits. Start and end dates are flexible.  

Duties:  Assist in planning and conducting environmental education summer day camps for youth, public education programs, and volunteer service learning activities.

Essential Skills: Applicant must be at least 17 years of age. Experience with children preferred; self-starting ability to serve with minimal supervision; ability to communicate tactfully, courteously and effectively with others; The applicant must possess a current, valid driver’s license; ability to get to and from job site in all types of weather; ability to serve some evenings and weekends.  

Shift:  The AmeriCorps Naturalist Intern will serve no more than 25 hours per workweek. (Non-routine including some weekends, evenings and holidays). General hours: 8:00-4:30pm Monday-Friday, with flexibility to serve evenings and weekends as programs require.  

Stipend: Living Allowance Total: $2,475.00 (taxable). Education Award for student loans or tuition: $1,311.11 (upon completion of 300 hours). Student loan forbearance on qualified student loans, if applicable.  Housing is not provided.
