Job Summary


Under general supervision, the Shooting Complex Coordinator supervises and administers the fiscal oversight of the range, supervising part-time employees, ensuring range safety, and maintaining maintenance of the facility and equipment. Develops and implements educational programs for the general public.

Job Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Oversees, implements, coordinates the operation and development of the Shooting Complex; enforces procedures; manages day-to-day activities and property.
  • Supervises, initiates and implements administration/fiscal/budget efforts, including maintaining all purchase receipts; collects; counts; inputs and completes deposits from all generated funds of the facility.
  • Performs a variety of supervisory duties; prepares work schedules; conducts performance appraisals and recommends disciplinary actions; and participates in the hiring and training process.
  • Conducts range safety briefings, leads range safety commands, corrects firearm and archery safety violations.
  • Coordinates and conducts with other agency staff/ partners classes for public hunting, trapping, recreational shooting, field days, clinics and workshops at the range facilities.
  • Coordinates with other agency staff/ partners to set up and facilitate a variety of shooting leagues and competitions.
  • Assist with communication, marketing efforts, or other outreach activities to advance the mission and vision of the department.
  • Maintains the ground maintenance work which would include mowing, trimming, shoveling and salting.
  • Demonstrates the ability to exemplify, by his/her actions, the County PRIDE philosophy.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Standards for Initial Consideration

Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines

High school diploma or GED equivalent AND two (2) years of supervisory experience, customer service and experience in operational management and/or concession management.

Knowledge of:

  •  Work Safety policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Inventory management and purchasing practices and methods.
  • Customer service principles, practices, and etiquette.
  • Supervisory principles and practices.
  • Applicable local, State, and Federal laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances.
  • Budgeting practices and procedures.

Skill in:

  • Operating a variety of tools, equipment and machinery.
  • Providing effective leadership and direction to assigned staff.
  • Delivering informational presentations and tours to groups of varying size, age, and background.
  • Managing budgets.
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.
  • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.

Supplemental Information


Must possess a Range Safety Officer Certification, Hunter Safety Instructor Certification and First Aid, CPR and AED certification or obtain within 6 months of hire.


Work is done throughout the shooting range and requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions, potentially dangerous tools, equipment, and hazardous materials. May be required to climb ladders, lift, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
