Summary Description
Performs technical work patrolling parks, enforcing rules, interacting with park visitors, helping with general park maintenance and operations, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Park Ranger.

One position is available for the summer of 2021. The position offers opportunities in park patrol, rule enforcement, interaction with park visitors and general park maintenance and operations. The position will start May 11, 2021 and end approximately September 6, 2021. Accommodations may be made for school schedules.

Hours will average 40 hours per week. The standard work week is Wednesday - Sunday, and work hours will typically be afternoon and evening. Weekend, holiday, and evening work is required.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

- Patrols parks and visits with park users.
- Collects camping receipts.
- Enforces park rules.
- Assists in various park projects throughout the season.
- May occasionally work at Hickory Grove Beach selling concession items, renting boats, and cleaning facilities

Qualifications
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED; some college coursework in Natural Resources, or related field is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
General knowledge of the state laws and local ordinances governing park and recreational areas; general knowledge of the common practices, tools, terminology and safety precautions of building, park and equipment maintenance; general knowledge of the use and characteristics of common building and park equipment and tools including but not limited to trucks, tractors, mowers, brush chippers, chain saws, firefighting equipment, and power tools; some knowledge of the geography of the county and locations of important park buildings and structures; some knowledge of natural resource conservation principles and practices; ability to enforce rules and regulations in a firm and courteous manner; ability to follow oral and written directions; ability to prepare detailed reports; ability to operate standard law enforcement tools and equipment; ability to operate standard office equipment and related hardware and software; ability to operate standard maintenance tools and equipment; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to analyze situations and to adopt quick, effective and responsible courses of action with regard to surrounding hazards and circumstances; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, have a current, valid driver's license and be able to routinely lift 50 pounds. College level training in a natural resource filed is preferred.

Mandatory safety training is scheduled for Tuesday, May 11, 2021.
