Description
Regular upkeep and routine maintenance of all park facilities such as, electric campsites and associated hookups, bathrooms, tables, fireplaces, beaches, playgrounds, garbage, waste removal, mowing, trimming, landscaping, tree planting, removal, and trimming.  Performs the duties of a Conservation Officer and a Naturalist.  Regular playground inspection and documentation.  Patrols Parks and works additional hours, nights, holidays, and weekends to ensure the CCB Rules and Regulations are upheld and works closely with local law enforcement to resolve issues, also responds to calls to ensure proper function of campsites and facilities, and provides for the safety of visitors.  Operates a patrol vehicle, registers campers, checks for appropriate licenses, issues citations for violations, and provides information and assistance to the general public.  Will enforce conservation laws as a six month non certified seasonal officer. Participates in the improvement of park facilities by executing the overall operations plan for the County park system. Monitors progress/makes adjustments as needed. Assists with the improvement of wildlife habitat by performing prescribed burns planting native trees, grasses, shrubs, constructing or restoring wetlands and performs related work as required. Plans, develops, coordinates and presents environmental education and interpretive programs for schools, youth and adult groups and the general public in order to educate the public on the importance of environment and encourage their participation in public goals and objectives; coordinates projects pertaining to environmental education. Knowledge/Abilities/Skills: Knowledge of Park facilities, park management practices and procedures. Ability to identify problems, safety hazards, and inefficiencies and address them appropriately. Experience with installation, maintenance, and repairs of electrical, plumbing, and water supply systems.   Experience with landscaping, park design, and ADA requirements. Ability to deal with public in both common and during heated situations, resolve conflicts, and display sound judgment. Ability to operate a wide variety of equipment such as: tractors & implements, skid loader, backhoe, sprayers, pumps, small engines, chainsaws, power tools, and hand tools and perform routine equipment/vehicle maintenance and repairs to keep equipment in good working condition. Ability to effectively supervise part time and seasonal employees, caretakers, contractors, and volunteers on a regular basis to accomplish the goals of the CCB. Ability to work outside under any type of weather conditions and to withstand physically demanding work such as lifting, stooping, and bending. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, other agencies, and the general public. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Essential Duties: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, speak and hear.  The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.  The employee is required to climb and balance. The employee must regularly lift or move up to 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.  The employee must also be able to stand for two hours without a break. Qualifications
: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in park management, outdoor recreation, biology, environmental science or related field is preferred or a combination of education, on the job training, and equivalent expe
