Work involves management of concessionaire stand, greeting visitors and advising of rules and regulations, collecting user fees, selling concessions, renting beach equipment, and cleaning concession stand and beach. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

 

• Greeting beach visitors; informing them of all rules and regulations; collecting user fees.

• Reporting visitors’ violations of beach rules to the Parks Management Ranger.

• Maintaining and cleaning concession area; picking up trash from beach.

• Preparing and serving concessions to visitors; renting beach equipment.

• Accurately handling cash transactions and reporting all sales.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

Work is performed primarily standing in the concession stand and walking on the beach in a variety of weather conditions. Work requires the ability to stand for prolonged periods (up to 8 hours) and to perform occasional bending, lifting, or carrying items weighing less than 50 pounds, such as concessions, kayaks, canoes and trash bags. Operation of cash register requires manual dexterity.

 

WORKING HOURS:

 

Applicants will typically work approximately 35 hours a week.  Applicants are expected to be available 11:30 a.m. through 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays, from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

 

APPLICANT PREREQUISITES:

 

Applicant must be at least 18 years of age. Applicants must have experience involving cash management or sales or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

 

• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.

• Ability to communicate with others using tact and diplomacy.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with supervisor and the public.

• Ability to maintain accurate records.

• Ability to accurately count money and provide change.
