Summary Description

One part-time seasonal position is available this fall through winter 2021-2022. This position offers opportunities to utilize the latest trends in vegetation management in roadsides, drainage ditches and natural areas. Other job-related tasks may include equipment and facilities maintenance as well as assisting with habitat improvement on public and private lands. This position will start September 2021 and run through February 2022 depending on hours worked.  

Job Duties/Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.   •  Assisting staff with prairie seed harvest/cleaning operations, planting native vegetation, equipment rental and equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Removing trees and brush from the County's roadsides and open ditches located within drainage districts.
  • May assist staff with prescribed fire if certified in NWCG S130 and S190.
  • Operates equipment such as a hydro-seeder, seed drills, tractor/loaders. UTVs, prescribed fire equipment, chainsaws and various power and hand tools.  
  • Applies ready to use herbicide on cut stumps.
  • Hours may vary based on employee's schedule and weather conditions.

 

Qualifications
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have a current, valid driver's license. Opportunities to obtain a commercial pesticide applicator certification or a commercial driver's license may exist.

Employees will undergo post-offer, pre-employment background checks and drug screening.
