Heavy Equipment Operator

Operates the motor grader, dump truck and other equipment with complex controls. Work is performed under general supervision. Knows the County’s Customer-Centered Culture principles, the County’s Mission, Strategic Plan and Core Values and demonstrates a commitment to customer satisfaction for all customers on a regular basis. Operates a grader or bulldozer in construction, precision grading and repair and maintenance roads and/or park facilities. Operates heavy equipment such as bulldozer, motor graders, front-end loaders and excavators. Plows snow and operates sanding equipment. Drives truck for hauling rock, brush, dirt, gravel and sand. Performs concrete, asphalt and seal coat patching and replacement. Performs unskilled labor when not operating heavy equipment, including: building repair, culvert repair and replacement, sign installation and repair, tree and brush cutting, tree and brush chipping. Services and makes minor repairs to equipment. Performs all other related duties as assigned. Knows the products they personally produce and the customers of each product. Listens to the “Voice of the Customer” and closes gaps between customer expectations and experience whenever possible.
