Job Responsibilities:
Essential functions,

duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Performs preventative
maintenance on County fleet vehicles to include changing fluids, filters, and
tires at proper intervals; verifies equipment and vehicles are functioning
within specifications and operating safely.

Calculates cost
effectiveness for repair or possible replacement for a wide variety of
equipment; prepares estimates for repair and purchase of new equipment and
parts; determines the need for third-party repairs.

Troubleshoots and
diagnoses fleet vehicles; uses scan tools and computers for repairing and
setting manufacturers parameters; identifies and repairs malfunctions.

Repairs a variety of
equipment to include gas and diesel engines, pumps and electrical motors,
hydraulic systems, chainsaws, weed eaters, and pool equipment; maintains fleet
history and supply inventory using appropriate computer software.

Welds and fabricates
County entry gates, trail bridges, trailers, and stairs within DOT, OSHA,
State, and County codes and guidelines.

Repairs facilities
and campgrounds plumbing, sewer, electrical, heating, and cooling systems;
performs roofing and concrete work; completes road, sign, and parking lot
repairs; may participate in grounds and landscape maintenance tasks.

Operates a variety of
equipment and to include large trucks, industrial tractors, tree spade, mower,
brush chippers, shop tools, and automotive tools.

Participates in a
variety of projects to include prescribed fire burns, timber stand improvement,
prairie rehabilitation, wetland restoration, and enhancing nature trails.

Assists with
assigning tasks to seasonal staff; provides instruction on safe and proper
operation of equipment and tools.

Demonstrates the
ability to exemplify, by his/her actions, the County PRIDE philosophy.

Performs related
duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Associate's degree or two-year technical certificate in automotive repair preferred; AND two (2) years of automotive and diesel equipment repair experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
