Conservation Aide-Seasonal

This position is from mid April though mid September.  Schedule can be highly variable depending on candidates circumstance and schedule.

This position will assist fulltime staff in most management activities in Parks and Natural Areas to include: Invasive species control through the use of fire (both woodland and restored prairies), cut and treat, mowing and potentially the use of goats.  Park management to include mowing, cleaning and handling camper and cabin rental requirements.  Timber stand improvement to include canopy reduction through primarily chainsaw work.  Be involved in native plant production, maintenance of native plant production areas and landscaping with native plants.  Involved in trail maintenance.

Work week with be from Wednesday through Sunday with Monday and Tuesday off.  This position requires 8 hours/day with 40 hour work weeks. Must be able to work, at times, independently.

Must be cordial and communicate effectively with both staff and the public.

This position will require working in at times difficult weather conditions with strenuous activities requiring an individual to routinely life up to 75 lbs.  Must be able to use a variety of hand tools and mowers.
