Description: The intern assists the Conservation Board’s interpretive naturalists, and plans and conducts nature interpretation; outdoor recreation and environmental education programs for a wide range of audiences; summer campground programs; special events; live animal care; and display development and maintenance; The intern also helps staff the nature center; writing articles and press releases, and completes a display project and original activity curriculum write-up.  Interns experience and assume tasks of increasing responsibility.

Requirements: Ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing, and express enthusiasm for nature and interacting with people.  Experience in outdoor recreation activities and ability to obtain a chauffeur’s license are preferred.  Successful applicant must possess a current valid driver’s license, and will undergo criminal background checks and a pre-employment physical.  Dates:  The position begins in April, 2024 or as soon as possible in May, and will end in August, 2024.  Approximately 40 hours/week, with some weekends and evenings. Position open until filled, or three months, whichever comes first.

Wage: $15.00 to $15.50/hour
