Conservation Aide

The Guthrie County Conservation Board is accepting applications for a seasonal Conservation Aide position.  The position is approximately four months and will be from May through August.  It is a seasonal position with an expectation of 40 hours per week paying $10.00 per hour.  Applicants may be subject to holiday and weekend work.

Description:

The Conservation Aide position will assist with all aspects of grounds and facility maintenance with the Guthrie County Conservation Board’s areas including campgrounds, recreational trails, wildlife management areas, and the Guthrie County Historical Village.  Job duties may include but are not limited to:

·         Mowing and trimming within parks

·         Cleaning and maintenance of restroom and shower facilities

·         Trash and litter removal within GCCB areas

·         Assist and provide campers with information and instruction on camping and park rules

·         Tree and brush removal on recreational trail system

·         Operation of mowers, weed trimmers, tractors, chainsaws, power tools, and various other equipment associated with grounds maintenance

·         General equipment maintenance

·         Minor development and construction of GCCB areas

·         Additional responsibilities will be dictated by the director or natural resource manager

Qualifications:

Applicants must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.  Must have a high school diploma or GED.  Preference is given for an interest in biology, forestry, ecology, or natural resource management.  Applicants with experience in equipment such as mowers, trimmers, power tools, and chain saws are preferred.  Individual must be able to lift 50 lbs and pass a background check.
