Description
SUMMARY: This
Park Ranger position will assist the Park Officer and Conservation
Technician with the safety of park visitors, wildlife, and facilities. This
position also helps provide campers and park users with a positive experience
while visiting the County Parks. This position may qualify as part of a college
internship program through the summer camping season or as the intern schedule
permits.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Successfully performs park
duties such as collecting camping registrations and fees.
- Assist the Park Officer
with the management of county parks including maintenance and public
relations.
- Register campers, collect
user, camper and other miscellaneous fees and provide receipts of payment. Prepare and collect fees for shelter
rentals.
- Perform routine ground
maintenance in parks and assigned properties including, but not limited to
mowing, trimming, pruning, and trash removal.
- Perform road and trail
maintenance duties such as blading and filing holes.
- Perform routine building
maintenance and clean and stock supplies in park facilities such as
restrooms, shower houses, and shelters.
- Patrol parks in vehicles
and on foot to perform public relations through personal contacts with
users, enforce laws, rules and regulations and warn those in
violation.

directed or as the situation dictates.
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE:
- Must be attending or planning to attend college
in the conservation /natural resource field.
REQUIRED UPON HIRE:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Valid Driver’s License (upon hire)
- Must have a good driving record
- Must be able to pass a background check.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability
to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical
procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present
information and respond to questions from the general public.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- Microsoft Windows and Office, email, and other
basic computer resources.
- Other tools and equipment used in natural
resource management.
OTHER SKILLS AND
ABILITIES:

Ability to multi-task and
prioritize job activities to achieve maximum overall results.
- Ability to operate
equipment such as drills, saws, lawn mowers, utility tractors, weed
trimmers and chainsaws.

Ability to perform basic
equipment maintenance.

Ability to provide
informative and professional assistance when working with the public,
customers and County personnel.

Ability to work with
others in the attainment of department duties and County goals.

Demonstration of good oral
and written communication and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of wildlife
protection, Law Enforcement and Conservation.
- Ability to interact with
individuals of all ages and backgrounds.
- Must be able to work a non-standard workweek
that will include; holidays, evenings and weekends.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The
physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by
an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While
performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk
or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and use hands to
grasp, handle or feel. Also required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch,
crawl, push or pull, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must
frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up
to 20 pounds and occasionally exert up to 50 pounds of force to move objects.
