Executive Director

As per Iowa Code, Chapter 350, individual will be responsible for all professional and administrative duties related to the management of Washington County’s parks, recreation, and wildlife areas.

Duties include: coordination, planning, and administration of all Washington County Conservation Board’s conservation and recreation programs in the County, following WCCB’s directives. Duties also include: maintenance of departmental records, budgeting and working within designated budget, providing monthly reports, grant writing, supervision of employees, delegation of duties, and various administrative tasks.   Significant field work involved. Exposure to seasonal temperature extremes, noise levels, smoke, insects, and dust are likely. Knowledge of the use of various hand and power tools, mowers, and knowledge of natural resources and plants required.  

Minimum age of 21. Have or be able to obtain Grade A Water Operator Certification and Wildland Fire Training Certification.   Additional training and certifications may also be required (see full position description online). 4-year Conservation-related degree (i.e. natural sciences or outdoor recreation) required, or equivalent educational experience combined with hands-on work experience. Extensive knowledge in natural resources program components preferred.  

Salary will depend on experience.  

Must reside within Washington County.
