Seasonal Park Maintenance Aide

SEASONAL PARK MAINTENANCE AIDE  

DESCRIPTION: An approximate 6 month wage & hour position (April thru September or early October), who under the supervision of the Conservation Board Director and Natural Resource Specialist, conducts and is responsible for all park maintenance, minor equipment maintenance and park facility repair & construction largely entailing, but not limited to, mowing, trimming, trail maintenance, fence repairs, signing, landscaping, and custodial functions and other related natural resource duties (assist with prairie burns, TSI, etc. as required by the Madison County Conservation Board).  

QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or G.E.D. Preference to candidates with college degree or course work in conservation, landscaping, general construction, outdoor recreation, park management or other related field of study.  Must be skilled with small equipment (tractors, large mowers, etc.) operation, chain saws, power tools and knowledge of proper maintenance and care of such equipment. Preference to candidates with landscaping and general construction skills.  

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Possess a current and valid driver license and experienced with manual transmission and capable of obtaining Commercial Drivers License (CDL). First Aid and CPR training or the ability to become certified in both areas. Physically capable of enduring outdoor climate and geography associated with this region as well as lifting 50 lbs or more. Background check will be required.   WAGE & HOURS: Wage scale will be $15.00/hour. Most weeks will require maximum of 24 hours. Non-standard work week necessitated by weather conditions. Vehicle provided on the job. Background check will be required prior to employment.
