Description
1. Participates in the planning, coordination and implementation of conservation,
preservation and restoration work regarding Polk County Conservation's
various ecosystems.
2.
Collects and
analyzes data to determine the best course of action for conservation,
preservation and/or restoration of parklands including preparation of land
management policies for Board consideration.
3.
Participates
in specialized natural resource
restoration projects such as: prescribed fire burns, timber stand
improvement, wildlife habitat improvement, fishery habitat, reforestation,
prairie rehabilitation, wetland restoration, enhancing nature trails,
hazardous material handling and pesticide applications.
4.
Inspects
parks and related areas to identify
needs/impacts of environmental health, inventory of diversified plant and
animal species; and analyzes boundary watershed and land use issues.
5.
Coordinates and manages PCC's crop rental and hay ground operations,
wetland mitigation banks and water quality testing.
6.
Inspects
grounds, habitats and archeological
data, to identify environmental conditions for review of plans and
specifications to protect PCC's natural resources and archeological areas;
ensures compliance with local, state, and federal environmental safety/health
regulations.
7.
Serves as liaison between professional resource management agencies,
higher education institute collaboration and research opportunities and
serve as a resource for botanical and biological requests. Coordinates research, inventories
involving parkland flora and fauna and develops land use management plans.
8.
Leverages
conservation planning both within the organization and among regional
stakeholders.
9.
Performs
related duties as required
Qualifications
Masters from an accredited college or university with a degree in a conservation practice field: biology, horticultural, environmental science, natural resource management, water ecology or related field; and
