Natural Resource Manager

NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGER DESCRIPTION: Full-time salaried position under the general supervision of the Director. The position will be involved with the direct management of Guthrie County Conservation Board areas including some interpretive work. The position will involve a non-standard work week requiring weekend, night, and holiday work schedules.

QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in biological sciences, natural resources, or a closely related field. Applicants must be able to pass a physical, drug screen, and background check.

REQUIREMENTS: Must possess knowledge of principles and practices in conservation, ecology, wildlife management, outdoor recreation, and natural resource interpretation. Must have excellent communication skills (oral and written); must have experience servicing and operating equipment; must be able to work with all ages and maintain working relationships with employees and citizens; must be able to walk, sit, kneel, stoop, balance, climb and lift 75 pounds; must be able to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions and be exposed to loud noise, dust and fumes; must be highly motivated in the natural resource field and take personal responsibility in providing quality services to area citizens; must possess or acquire within 6 months a Class A CDL, Iowa Pesticide Applicator’s license, Category 6 Right-of-Way certification, Hunter Education instructor certification, first aid training, and maintain an acceptable driving record. Must live in a county provided residence.  

SALARY: $40,000 - $43,000 depending on experience and qualifications. Eligible for full county benefits including family insurance, uniform allowance, life insurance, and vehicle. Additionally, the county pays all utilities on the residence with the exception of phone and internet services.
