Description
This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week assisting in planning, promoting, developing, and conducting interpretive and educational programs for the public, schools, and groups with a focus on natural resources, the environment, outdoor recreation, and science as well as assists with staffing and public programming at the Hurstville Interpretive Center including weekend and evening hours.
This position writes and edit articles for various sources, develops interpretive exhibits, develops curriculum to assist with environmental education and school programming, assists with program organization, training and record keeping. The Naturalist will participate in general labor tasks in maintenance of the Hurstville Interpretive Center and assist with coordination of activities in management areas. Work may also include acting as a leader or supervisor in directing semi-skilled workers or volunteers assigned to assist in various projects or tasks. Work may be performed with considerable independence with minimal supervision.
Associates degree from an accredited 2-year college or university with preference given to applicants with a Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Environmental Sciences, Ecology, Outdoor Recreation, Biology or other related natural resources field. Additional experience in environmental education or conservation related fields also preferred. A valid Driver’s License is required. CPR and 1st Aid certification will be required within the first 6 months on the job.
