Macroinvertebrate Mayhem

Hurstville Interpretive Center, Jackson County

Saturday, July 21, 2018

Our rivers, wetlands, and aquatic habitats are full of life. From fish, to mammals, to plants our waters are host to a great diversity of life. Some of the most interesting creatures that live in our rivers and streams are some of the smallest. Macroinvertebrates are creatures that are big enough to see and also lack a vertebrae, or backbone. We can tell a lot about the health of our waterbodies by what macroinvertebrates we find in them. Come catch, identify, and learn about these amazing creatures with a naturalist in the Hurstville Interpretive Center pond. Be prepared to get wet and enjoy a nice summer day. This event is family friendly.
