This 40-acre wildlife area offers prime wildlife habitat in one of the most rapidly developing areas of Polk County. Birding is a popular activity among marsh visitors. Seasonal birds frequent the marsh, including herons, yellow-headed and red-winged blackbirds, yellow-throated warblers, and various waterfowl.

The Gay Lea Wilson Trail now passes along the east side of Carney Marsh.

Carney Marsh in southern Ankeny is located along SE 54th Avenue between Highway 69 and Interstate 35.

    • The north side of Easter Lake Park is open sunrise to sunset year-round.
