Hitchcock Haunted Hollow

Have a "howling" good time at Hitchcock Nature Center during Hitchcock Haunted Hollow from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 31st & from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 1st. This all ages program is the perfect way to get outdoors & explore autumn in Iowa.

Participants may arrive anytime between 11:00 a.m. & 2:00 p.m. on Saturday & between 1:00 & 4:00 p.m. on Sunday to pick up their treasure hunt materials. Once you have your clues in hand hit the trails to see if you can find the answers & return victorious. Costumes are welcome! Participants will be able to choose their route based on age & skill level. 

Cost is $5.00 per person age 4 & over & children age 3 & under are free. No pre-registration is required, please visit the welcome desk at the Loess Hills Lodge to pay your program fee & pickup your scavenger hunt materials. Once you have completed your scavenger hunt please return to the Loess Hills Lodge to collect your prize, while supplies last. Participants must return to the Loess Hills Lodge no later than 3:00 p.m. on Saturday or 4:00 p.m. on Sunday to collect their prize.   

Please note, this event will be held outdoors & involve pedestrian travel over uneven surfaces. Strollers are not recommended. Please dress for the weather, bug spray & water are recommended. For questions not answered online please call 712-545-3283. 

Due to COVID-19 the format of this program has been adjusted. 

  • 6-foot distance will be maintained between individuals/family groups
  • Masks requested while inside and when distancing is impossible outside
  • This program will be held primarily outdoors
  • Staff will wear masks when 6-foot distance is not possible or indoors
  • Participants must sign a participation waiver upon arrival
