Evening Exploration

McFarland Park, Story County

Friday, October 23, 2020

Discover the mysteries of the dark at the park! Follow us on a journey to understand just what it takes to be a creature of the night. Test your senses and try your hand at talking with the owls. Capture this unique opportunity to see McFarland Park through lightless eyes. This hike is not intended to scare but to excite your imagination. If you wish to bring a flashlight, please cover it with red tissue paper. We will begin the hike at the Conservation Center. It will be a night to remember!

Please dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes. This event will include an hour and a half hike and is a family-friendly event. However, it is not intended for strollers or wagons. Parents, please, no light up shoes.

Our top priority has been and will continue to be the health and well-being of the public and the staff. In response to the ongoing development of COVID-19, Story County Conservation programs will adhere to social distancing, smaller group size, increased sanitation and face coverings mandatory when social distancing is not possible or while indoors. Pre-registration will be required when group size needs to be limited due to the facility or location.
