National Day of Unplugging Community Campfire

McFarland Park, Story County

Friday, March 5, 2021

National Day of Unplugging is Friday, March 5. According to www.nationaldayofunplugging.com, this day is a time to commit to “a 24-hour global respite from technology. It highlights the value of disconnecting from digital devices to connect with ourselves, our loved ones, and our communities in real time.” Doesn’t that sound nice?!

Reconnect through disconnecting at a Community Campfire at McFarland Park (56461 180th Street, Ames) on Friday, March 5, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Campfires have been bringing people together for centuries and have a very calming power. We will tell stories, sing songs, and celebrate the end of the day. You are welcome to stay after the event and enjoy the night!

This event is free, but registration is required by 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3. This program will be canceled in the event of inclement weather.

Our top priority has been and will continue to be the health and well-being of the public and the staff. In response to the ongoing development of COVID-19, Story County Conservation programs will adhere to social distancing, smaller group size, increased sanitation and face coverings mandatory when social distancing is not possible or while indoors. Pre-registration will be required when group size needs to be limited due to the facility or location.
