Washington Union Access is located right off of Cedar-Wapsi Road (C-57) and is at the most northern end of the Black Hawk Park complex. This park provides river access, a boat ramp and ample flood plain forest and prairie to satisfy a variety of outdoor enthusiast. Here you will find ideal white tailed deer and wild turkey habitat and the area provides an access point to the Cedar River. Immediately within the park boundary is a large parking area with plenty of room to picnic. The habitat found here provides for excellent hiking and bird watching opportunities as well as plenty of habitat to hunt.
The 48 acre area is adjacent to the Cedar River and lowland forest species such as silver maple and walnut trees are plentiful. The deciduous tree species found here in the fall would make a great setting for taking in the fall colors. Bird watching enthuisiasts will find a wide variety of birds both game and non-game species. Canoeist and boaters alike will find the boat ramp easily accessible and provides plenty of room to launch your boat or canoe into the river. Fisherman will find northern pike, walleye, catfish, and small mouth bass in this stretch of the river.
Park boundaries are not always clearly marked so please be aware of location within the park and respect the rights of land owners.
