Calhoun - Featherstone Memorial Park

CABIN SUNFISH

Escape to the Sunfish Cabin, one of two big cabins located in the south end of Featherstone Memorial Park. Experience serene views of North Twin Lake and unwind just steps away from the water's edge. The cabin comfortably sleeps eight people, with two on each bed, one on each twin bed and two on the futon.

Inside the cabin, you'll find a fully equipped kitchen with a fridge, oven/stove, toaster, coffee pot, microwave, kitchen table, and chairs. The living room has a TV, recliner, and futon, along with an AC/heat unit. Across from the full bathroom with a walk-in shower, there's a bedroom with a queen-sized bed and dresser. Upstairs, you'll find two more bedrooms, one with two twin beds, and the other with a queen bed. The loft area features a couch, love seat, recliner, and TV.

Step outside onto the covered cement patio deck overlooking the picturesque lake. Two picnic tables are located on the deck, with a fire ring right in front of the cabin. Explore the park's trail that circles the lake, play disc golf, go boating, relax at the playground, or fish from the shoreline. Please note that pets are not allowed inside the cabin.

RENTER WILL NEED TO BRING:
Make sure you bring all the essentials for a comfortable night's sleep! 

• Two queen-size sheet sets for two queen-size beds

• One full-size sheet sets for 1 full-size futon

• 2 twin-size sheet sets for 2 twin beds

• Blankets 

• Pillows 

• Bath linens and toiletries (CCCB will supply toilet paper)

• Plates, cups, silverware etc.

• Pots, Pans etc. for cooking

• Food and beverages

• Lawn chairs (cabin furniture not allowed outside cabin) 

• Firewood 

You may also want to bring bug spray, flashlights, games and more! 

Cabin Policies: 

CHECK IN:  4:00 PM on the day of arrival - no earlier

CHECK OUT:  10:00 AM on the day of departure -  no later

2-night minimum stay is required!

Reservations must be made AT LEAST 3 DAYS IN ADVANCE

DAMAGE / CLEANING DEPOSIT - $200 Refundable - in addition to the rental fee

• To secure your booking, please send or deliver a check of $200.00 for each cabin booked to the Calhoun County Conservation office no later than 1 week prior to stay. This check will be held until after your stay has ended and will only be cashed if there are any cleaning mishaps or damages during your visit. Otherwise, it will be shredded. If the CCCB decides to keep your deposit, we will notify you promptly.

PETS & SMOKING ARE NOT ALLOWED INSIDE THE CABINS

• Pet Policy: As a friendly reminder, all cabins offered by the Calhoun County Conservation Board are animal free cabins. If an animal is seen entering and exiting the cabins, the reserving party will be asked to leave regardless of whether the animal is theirs or a visitor. If a reserving party is asked to leave, a refund will not be issued. With any questions regarding this policy, call the Calhoun County Conservation Board (712-297-7131)! 

• Smoking Policy: NO SMOKING - Calhoun County is a smoke-free environment. Smoking is prohibited in all buildings. 

Cabin rental must be in the name of a person 21 years of age or older who will be present at the facility for the full term of the reservation.

Fees

FULL PAYMENT IS REQUIRED AT THE TIME OF RESERVATION. 

Peak Season – April - Second week in November

• Weekdays (Sun-Thurs)                                  $150/night plus $200 deposit

• Weekends (Fri-Sat)                                            $150/night plus $200 deposit

• Minimum of two nights required

Busy Season - Between Memorial Day and Labor Day

• “Busy Season” Weekly rental (7 nights)          $1,050 plus $200 deposit

Off-Season – Second week in November - March 

• Closed

There are NO DISCOUNTS for youth groups, seniors or multiple reservations.

*NEW* Effective January 1, 2023  County Hotel/Motel TAX will increase from 0% to 7%. 

There is now a fee of a 5% statewide Hotel/Motel Consumer's Use Tax imposed on the rental of recreational cabins, plus a 7% Calhoun County hotel/motel tax for a total of 12% tax. This will be pulled from the $150 a night charge for the cabin

DEPOSIT REQUIRED: This facility requires that a deposit check in the amount of $200.00 be mailed to the Conservation Office no later than two weeks from the date you made your reservation. This deposit is refundable if there is no damage and cleaning has been completed as posted. It is the responsibility of the user to ensure that this deposit is provided on time.  Deposits for this facility should be mailed to:

Hours of Operation & Seasons

• Park hours are 7:00 am to 11:00 pm.

• Cabins are open during the park season

• Check-in time:   4:00 PM - no earlier

• Check-out time:  10:00 AM - no later

• Renters must have the facility and area cleaned and exited by scheduled check-out time.

• 2-night minimum required

     *During busy season (Memorial Day through Labor Day) there is a minimum stay of 7 days from Sunday to Sunday*

• Must be 21 years old to rent the cabin

• Smoking is prohibited

• Keg beer is prohibited

• Pets are prohibited inside the cabin

• Cabin furniture must remain inside the cabin.

• Clean-up of facility and area must be completed no later than scheduled check-out time.
