Dickson Timber is a forest preserve located 3 miles north of Highway 30 on county road N50. 

There are 12 electric campsites available for RV's in addition to 8 electric equestrian camping sites with a water hydrant nearby. Tent camping is also available.  It is recommended that you bring your own drinking water. A pit toilet is located near the campgrounds.

Camping Rates:       RV & Equestrian electric campsites: $12.00 per night. (30 AMP)

                                    Non-electric, tent, & equestrian camping: $10.00 per night.
Several miles of hiking and horse trails are easily accessible from the campgrounds.

Equestrian Fees are $2.00 daily per person or $15.00 per person per calendar year.

A shelter house is available to reserve for $40 per day by calling the Carroll County Conservation Board Office at 712-792-4614.  Special rates are available for nonprofit groups.  If the shelter is not reserved it can be used on a first-come, first-serve basis.    


 Dickson Timber is 2 miles East and 3.5 miles North of Hwy 30 on N50 (Velvet Ave)

Operating Hours & Seasons

  The campground is open from mid-April through the end of October, weather permitting.




The campground is closed between November-March.

The Equestrian Trail may be temporarily closed if the trail is too muddy. You can call ahead at (712) 775-2710 for current trail conditions (open or closed).
