The open-walled shelter is open year-round (but wear your coat in winter). The Sauk Rail Trail is just steps from the shelter, making it a perfect location to hold any kind of event using the trail. The Swan Lake campground and playground are also nearby. This shelter is often used by folks camping at the park. The lake is just downhill from the shelter house, along with the canoes, kayaks and paddle boats are a short walk away - but to rent a boat you will need to either visit our concession and gift shop, located in the lower level of the Swan Lake Conservation Education Center or our Campground Hosts. Picnic tables are provided, seating up to 40 people. One electrical outlet is available in the shelter. The South Shelter can be reserved for $40 OR can be used for free on a first-come, first-served basis (unless someone has reserved it). Non-profit organizations receive a discount rental rate. A $50 refundable clean-up deposit is required. You can begin setting up at 5:00 am and must vacate the premises by 10:00 pm.
