The Forest Park Museum complex includes:

  • 12 acres of re-established prairie and wildflowers, including a mowed path around the perimeter that encourages visitors to explore the grounds.
  • A .4 mile spur off the Raccoon River Valley Trail

  • On the southeast edge of Perry on Highway 141, turn south onto K Avenue. (Note: to the north of Highway 141, K Avenue is called 16th St.)
  • Proceed approximately ¼ mile and the entrance is on the west (right).

  • Forest Park and Arboretum's mowed paths are open 8:00am-10:00pm year-round.
  • DCCB Administrative Headquarters are open 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday year-round.
  • The RRVT is open 24 hours, year-round.


  • Mowed trails on Forest Park Museum grounds are free.
  • A permit is required by anyone 18 years and older to use the Raccoon River Valley Trail.

Annual permits are available for purchase online or by using the QR code at trail head signs. Permits can also be purchased with cash using a green envelope at yellow trailhead tubes.

Daily permits are $2.00 and may be purchased with cash using a white envelope at the trail heads. These are not available online.
