Solar Eclipse Watch Party

Hurstville Interpretive Center, Jackson County

Monday, April 8, 2024

A spectacular celestial show will be visible on April 8th, allowing Iowans to view a solar eclipse, Venus, Jupiter, and Comet 12P all at once! AmeriCorps Naturalists will host a Solar Eclipse Watch Party at the Hurstville Interpretive Center on April 8th from 1:00-3:00 pm. Peak solar eclipse will occur at approximately 1:58 pm.   Learn about this rare phenomenon with interactive activities and make-and-take crafts including UV sensitive beads, coloring pages, and other interactive activities. Check out the planets and comet visible during the eclipse through a telescope. Bring a lawn chair for lounging and a shoe box for crafting a solar eclipse viewing box.   This program is free and open to the public. Reservation is recommended. For more information or to reserve, contact Jackson County Conservation at (563) 652-3783 or email jacksonccb@jacksonccb.com.
