Volunteer Monarch Tagging

JOHNSON COUNTY EDUCATION PROGRAMS, Johnson County

Wednesday, August 16, 2023

We need volunteers to help us catch wild monarch butterflies for tagging! Tagged butterflies will journey 2,000 miles to their winter home in Mexico. This activity is great for all ages and is a great way to support monarch butterfly research.

Events are dependent on weather conditions and location may be changed depending on monarch activity. Possible locations include Cedar River Crossing, Two Horse Farm, and Kent Park.

Updates will be shared via email with all registered participants.

Registration closes 24 hours in advance. If you are fully registered, you can expect to receive an email "receipt" from MyCountyParks after registration. You will also receive an email from the leading naturalist a couple days in advance of the program. If you do not receive these emails, you may not be registered; call 319-645-1011 for assistance in this case.

JCC is committed to providing equal opportunity for participation in all programs, services and activities. We welcome and encourage people with disabilities to attend programs and events. Accommodations for persons with disabilities may be requested by contacting naturalist staff at 319-645-1011 or jccnaturalists@gmail.com.
