FALL COLORS at Chinkapin Bluffs Recreation Area
Chinkapin Bluffs is a beautiful park for viewing the fall colors. An observation deck located near the picnic shelter on top of the bluff creates a beautiful view of the Iowa River Valley below. The mix of deciduous hardwoods including a diversity of trees including oaks, hickory, chestnut, maple, elm, paw paw and more provide an array of colors.

Hours
Open year round including holidays. Park hours are 6:00 am - 10:30 pm with the exception of hunting seasons.
Fees
The Picnic Shelter can be reserved
online. There is a fee of $34, and groups wishing to have beer or wine will also need to obtain a special use permit for and additional $50.
