Description
POSITIONS INCLUDE
- Park Intern
– maintenance of county areas and facilities, including mowing,
trimming, cleaning, painting, etc., as well as assisting with natural
resource management and naturalist programming.
- Naturalist Intern
– environmental education, including planning, assisting with, and
implementing environmental education programs and activities for summer
camps, libraries, public programs, and at a county fair booth, as well
as assisting with maintenance, resource management, trail counts and
administrative work as assigned.
DETAILS
- Flexible start and end dates; 12-14 week position begins April/May and ends August/September.
- 40 hour work week (non-routine week including some weekends, evenings, and holidays).
- Housing is available for an additional 6-8 hours/week of mowing and park upkeep.
- Salary is $11.00-$14.00/hr, depending on qualifications. No benefits.
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants
must be enrolled in or have a degree in one of the following fields:
ecology, environmental studies, recreation, park management, biology,
forestry, or other natural sciences. Must be 18 years old, have the
ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., possess a valid Iowa driver’s
license, and maintain an acceptable driving record. Certification in
First Aid and CPR desired but not required. Applicant will undergo a
background check.
