Naturalist Intern

Description
Seasonal position under general supervision of the Naturalist and direct supervision of the Environmental Education Coordinator.  The Naturalist intern will assist the Naturalist in the development and presentation of interpretive programs to schools, campers, summer camps and other public groups as assigned.  The Naturalist intern will also coordinate special events and programs, design and construct interpretive displays, prepare publicity materials including news releases and radio reports, preform occasional office work and cleaning and other duties that may arise.  Must be familiar with computers and audio/visual equipment.  Must have a basic knowledge of conservation concepts and teaching skills and be able to communicate with individuals and groups of all ages.  General maintenance and upkeep of the Education Center displays, educational supplies and grounds around the center as required.  Non standard work week with some night, overnight, weekend and holiday work required.  40 hour per week starting in May and going until September.  Beginning and end dates can be flexible to accommodate school schedules.

Qualifications
College student preparing for a career in environmental education or related field. Knowledge of basic conservation concepts and teaching skills. Ability to communicate orally with individuals and groups. Must have a valid driver's license
