Description
Full time position under the general supervision of the Conservation Board Director and Operations Supervisor. Duties will include but are not limited to: supervision of seasonal employees; assists in developing plans for county areas; assists landowners in habitat plans; maintains records on equipment maintenance, chemical use, etc.; park maintenance and management involving mowing, facility repairs (carpentry, electrical, plumbing, welding), equipment maintenance (automotive and agricultural mechanics), campground supervision, minor construction projects, manages county wildlife areas including prairie, woodland and wetland habitat types, habitat development. Assists other staff as needed.
Qualifications: A bachelor's degree from a
four-year college or university in a Natural Resource related field or a high
school diploma or GED and a minimum of two years work experience in a Natural
Resource management or a related field. Ability to establish and maintain an
effective work relationship with fellow employees and the public. Ability to
communicate verbally and in writing. Possess basic computer skills. Possess
ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions and routinely lift 50
pounds. Possess a valid Iowa driver's license. Possession of or ability to
obtain within six months upon hiring the following: Iowa Pesticide Applicators
Certification, completion of wild land fire training of
NWCG S-130/190. A pre-employment physical
and drug screening is required. Required to work a non-standard work week
including evening and weekend hours.
