Salary $13.50-$14.00 per hour depending on experience; work shirts provided.


Description

Duties and responsibilities: This position will assist in all aspects of park maintenance including but not limited to: mowing, trimming, mulching, painting, facility cleaning, trash removal, and basic equipment, facility and vehicle repair. Seasonal staff will also assist in all aspects of natural areas management including but not limited to: invasive species removal, prairie restoration, prairie planting, trail maintenance, and aspects of prescribed fire operations. Seasonal staff will also be involved in educational events such as nature center programs, classroom visits, public events and parades.

Essential skills: Conservation Aides should have the ability to work independently and in a group setting. They must also be able to maintain professionalism and integrity while working independently or under varying types of supervision.  This position requires the ability to safely operate or the ability to learn how to safely operate equipment such as: zero-turn mowers, UTVs, tractors, trimmers, chainsaws, brush cutters, pole saws, pruning tools, and basic construction power and hand tools. Interns must also be able to routinely lift up to 50 lbs. and be able to work in difficult environmental conditions such as steep terrain, extreme weather conditions and periods of rigorous labor. 



Qualifications
Applicants must be 18+years of age or a graduating high school senior. Applicants must also have a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with coworkers, supervisors, and the general public
