Description
SUMMARY: This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Under the general direction of the Director plans, develops, manages and presents environmental education programs within the county to citizens, public and civic groups and students in county schools. Develops curriculum and exhibits for use in the Tama County Nature Center. Generates written material for newsletters, news releases, flyers. websites, and social media sites. Maintains and operates nature exabit display equipment, machinery and tools used in various maintenance, operational and repair functions. Participates in various wildlife habitat, development and related functions. Performs related work as required.
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university supported by at least two years of practical job-related experience in areas of expected work, or completion of an associate’s degree with at least four years of relative experience. Major course work in natural resources, conservation, forestry and park management, environmental education, biology or botany.
QUALIFICATIONS: Individual must possess a valid State of Iowa motor vehicle operator’s license. This job is contingent upon successful completion of a background check. Must be able to be cleared by Tama County to drive a county vehicle. After hire date must receive certification in Commercial Pesticide Application (categories 2, 5, 6) and First Aid & CPR Certification.
SALARY: Hourly wage will start within range from $19.39 per hour (equates to $40,331 per year) - $20.23 per hour (equates to $42,078 per year) with standard county benefits and uniform. Tama County is an equal opportunity employer.
