Conservation Board is seeking a seasonal summer naturalist intern under direct
supervision of the naturalist and environmental education coordinator and
general supervision of the director. The naturalist intern will assist
the EE staff in the development and presentation of interpretive programs to
school age children, visitors to the nature center, summer programming and
other public groups as assigned. This person will assist with kayak programming
and must be able to lift 50 pounds on a routine basis. Additional tasks may
include but are not limited to: helping with general upkeep of the nature
center and environmental education materials, caring for ambassador animals, opening
and closing the nature center, assisting with various conservation projects, and
designing advertising media. This position has a nonstandard work week
with some early mornings, nights, and weekend work required. Position to
start in May and go through August with the possibility of going until early September.
Beginning and end dates may be flexible to accommodate school schedules.
Preferred bachelor's degree or college student preparing for a career in
environmental education or related field. Candidates should have
knowledge of basic conservation concepts, teaching skills and techniques, as
well as the ability to communicate with individuals and groups of all ages.
Familiarity with computers and audio/visual equipment preferred. Must have
valid driver's license and background check.

Qualifications
