Description
This position will run approximately April through
August (negotiable) and will offer opportunities to actively participate in
environmental education, interpretation, visitor services, and natural resource
management. Some night and weekend hours will be required. The position is 40
hours per week.
Duties: Develop and
present educational programs, assist with summer camps, assist with design and construction
of nature center displays, assist with educational animal care (reptiles,
amphibians, insects), write articles for the county conservation newsletter,
assist with resource management, staff the Lake Iowa Nature Center on weekends
and lead weekend environmental education programs, and other duties as
assigned.
Qualifications: Either be enrolled in or have a degree in natural
resources, environmental education, interpretation, parks and recreation,
conservation, environmental studies, or a related field. The applicant must
also possess a valid driver’s license, have the ability to get to and from the
work site, use hand and small power tools, and be a positive team player, and
be physically able to work in extreme conditions (heat, humidity, steep terrain,
etc).
Compensation:
up to $13.00 per hour (dependent on experience and
education).
