Greetings Fellow IACCBE Members:

On behalf of the 2019 IACCBE Winterfest Planning Committee I am so excited to share WINTERFEST XLVIII with you! We heard your concerns and the event will now take place at the beautiful Coralville Marriott Hotel & Conference Center on February 5-7, 2019.  The planning committee worked hard to ensure that this year’s presenters are top notch and it will continue to serve as the premier annual training opportunity for County Conservation Staff.

Winterfest 2019 will offer two excellent keynote speakers – Chad Pregracke and Dr. David Griffin. Chad will give us an update on his work continuing to clean the Mississippi. Dr. David Griffin will relay his inspirational story of recovery from PTSD following the death of 9 of his fellow firefighters in the Charleston Sofa Super Store fire. Others who have heard him speak say it is life changing!

The committee has arranged forty educational sessions to choose from during this three-day event, including adding 4 more programs on Thursday! Review the 2019 PROGRAM HERE!

Collegiate Day returns with a break-out session dedicated to explaining the CCB System to our college attendees. We will have a display featuring information from CCB's across the state including job openings, brochures, banners, etc!  The collegiate session includes the popular resume review portion where college students can bring in their personal resumes and get tips from current CCB staff. Learn first hand what we are looking to see on job applications, and how to put yourself at the top of the line. By attending Winterfest college students will be provided an opportunity to network among conservation professionals, be able to see what the County Conservation Board programs in the state have to offer as far as employment and career challenges, attend interesting presentations on a variety of conservation/natural resource topics provided by experts in the field - all at a discounted price!

The conference and lodging will be at the Coralville Marriott Hotel & Conference Center. The Iowa City/Coralville Area Convention & Visitor Bureau has provided a grant to help provide this improvement of  venue. Their support allows us to provide this first-class event for a very reasonable cost. A block of rooms has been reserved; room rates are $93/night, plus tax. Rooms may be reserved by calling the Hotel at (319) 688-4000. The cut -off deadline for room reservations is January 15, 2019 – please book your rooms early to ensure availability. With Bob Etzel’s retirement, and no one wanting to store the boxes and boxes of goods, we will be “garage selling” for mementos. Get there early to get the best pick of clothing or previous years mementos.

Please mark your calendars for February 5-7, 2019 and join your fellow friends in conservation for another Winterfest Conference that will exceed your expectations!  Please register online as soon as possible, late fee of $20 per registrant will be applied starting on January 5, with a registration deadline of January 25, 2019. I look forward to seeing everyone in Coralville for another great week of training, networking, and fun!!

Sincerely,

Amanda Bieber, President

Iowa Association of County Conservation Board Employees
