Yoga in the Park - Yoga Nidra for Cultivating Inner Stillness

Hartman Reserve Nature Center, Black Hawk County

Sunday, April 14, 2024

Join Julia Andreini at Hartman Reserve Nature Center for a practice to connect with not only your physical stillness, but a sense of inner stillness.  This practice is crafted using yoga and ayurvedic techniques to connect to an internal wisdom and stillness that is truly always accessible to us, but can be difficult to connect with due to the demands of every day life and our body and mind’s natural tendency to get stuck in a state of DOING instead of BEING. Yoga nidra, considered both a practice and state of dreamless sleep, uses systematic relaxation aiming to unify the physical body, mind, and energy in a way that allows us to realize and reset the way we think, act, and experience daily life.

Class limit: 20

Cost: $25

Find meditation challenging? No problem. The majority of this experience is guided. All you have to do is arrive with comfortable clothes, a yoga mat if you have one, and an open mind. This practice is typically done laying on your back - if this is uncomfortable, it can also be done seated. A rolled up bath towel or extra yoga mat is suggested for use behind the knees, and those with neck and upper back pain might find a rolled up hand towel comforting under the curve of the neck. If you're curious about any possible physical modifications please don't hesitate to ask!

Julia Abbott is an E-RYT 500 yoga teacher and functional breathing instructor.  She first fell in love with an ambitious asana practice in her late teens and found a love for the philosophy and metaphysics of yoga and meditation in early adulthood.  Armed with a healthy dose of compassion, a smile, and teaching experience with bodies of every age and ability, she is able to meet you where you’re at and help you further your practice and understanding of yoga. Her favorite styles to teach are yin yoga and yoga nidra.

Program Policies: All registrations must be done online and no walk-ins will be accepted. Only the independent instructor may issue a refund. Black Hawk County only provides the venue for Hartman yoga classes and thus cannot and will not be held liable for any cancellations or injury.
