Wapsi through the Seasons - Spring Kayak

Robert "Chic" McGlaughlin Easement Access, Buchanan County

Saturday, May 18, 2024

Get a new perspective of the Wapsipinicon River through all seasons!  Spring, summer, and fall paddles will occur down different stretches of the Wapsi in each season.  Winter will feature a walk through some of the same sections of river that were paddled. Enjoy several visits to a wonderful resource in many of our own ‘backyards!’   For the spring kayak, naturalists will meet everyone at McGlaughlin Access at Littleton Dam and the float will go to Otterville Bridge State Access Area.  The paddle down the river is designed to be shorter.  The summer paddle longer and fall paddle shorter.  There will be several stops along the way to learn about river mussels, river flow, and migratory birds.  Cost includes use of a kayak, life vest, and paddle.  Participants should bring sunscreen, insect repellent, and any snacks or drinks.  Transportation between accesses will be available this program is for ages 10 and over.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.
