Dundee Wildlife Area is located adjacent to the west side of Dundee in section 28 of Richland Township (T90N-R6W) Delaware County, Iowa. The 20.0 acre area is on the west edge of the town of Dundee.

Delaware County Conservation Board purchased this area in 1961 as a place for the public to use for fishing, wildlife habitat and outdoor enjoyment.

The Maquoketa River flows through this property in a north to south direction. As a result, it is subject to flooding in high water events. The river bottom is a wooded tract and an abundance of wildlife can be found on this area.

Dundee Wildlife Area has a water access for canoers and kayakers. This makes for a very scenic trip starting 3 miles upstream at Backbone State Park to the Dundee Access. For the more adventurous, you can enter the river here and float to the Quaker Mill Dam Area which is 9.5 miles downstream.

The Dundee Wildlife Area remains in a natural state and provides a unique opportunity for outdoor recreation.

Operating Hours & Seasons

This area is open from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm

Closures

All parks and natural areas remain open all year. However, facilities are closed to vehicle traffic and allow only walk-in access during the late fall and winter season. Parks with campground are usually open from mid-April through mid-October.
